Family Action in Rogerfield & Easterhouse

£21,340 towards the purchase costs of a minibus and outdoor equipment to enable young people in Glasgow to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

Family Action in Rogerfield & Easterhouse (FARE) was established in 1989 by local people in response to the lack of support and opportunities in the community, especially for families and young people. Trusthouse Charitable Foundation supported FARE with a capital grant to purchase a new minibus and outdoor equipment needed for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme which FARE runs for local young people.

The minibus helps FARE to reach out to more young people; takes the young people to the training sessions for the Award scheme’s residential camp (and the camp itself); and is used for collecting and returning young people safely from other diversionary and development activities in the evenings and weekends.  This added mobility has also enabled FARE to offer more places on the Award scheme (circa 30 more).
