RAPA is open to anyone in Glasgow and they are keen to promote ‘integrational play’, breaking down barriers for children of any age and ability. Play activities are geared to promoting physical and personal development. RAPA is the only area of open space in the immediate locality, thus providing a crucial function in allowing children and young people a space to play outdoors.
Ann-Marie Todd, Project Worker commented: ‘The grant provided the balance of funding towards the costs of our Playworker Team for 2015-16. Each time a child and young person attends a session, our Playworkers harness the opportunity to interact and strengthen future engagement opportunities with the child and young person. Without Playworker staff we would not be able to build and sustain positive relationships with children and young people or individually support a large number of disadvantaged children and young people who access our service on a daily basis.’
