Shettleston Men’s Shed

£3,500 towards the on going costs of a Men's Shed, providing a social outlet for at risk, mainly older men, living in the East End of Glasgow.

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation supported Shettleston Men’s Shed with their day to day running costs of heating, lighting, rent and insurance. The project is aimed mainly at older, retired men. It provides a social and recreational outlet for men who are at risk of loneliness, and developing a physical and/or mental health problem. The project helps them regain a sense of purpose in life by taking part in positive activities and making friends. The central feature of a men’s shed is a workshop area where ‘shedders’ can take part in hobby craft activities, working either on their own or on group projects.
