Krazy Kat Theatre Company

£6,000 towards the running costs of two new deaf-inspired theatre productions to run in a number of deprived towns and cities.

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation supported Krazy Kat Theatre Company to deliver Sign Me Up A Story, a programme of theatre performances incorporating Sign Language Arts and accessible both to deaf children and young people and their hearing peers.

Forty-seven artists performed two productions based on the Russian folk tale Baba Yaga and the Japanese folk legend character The Waving Cat to more than 8,000 people across Sheffield, Rochdale, Wolverhampton, Southampton and Kingston upon Hull, plus the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Havering.  Both stories focus on showing deaf characters to be the providers of solution to conflict, encouraging deaf children to see their potential as catalysts for change and to make their views heard in a positive way. Performances were followed by related practical Sign Language drama workshops.
